I have a new walking tour around St Peter Port. It will be getting it’s first outing tomorrow on Saturday 17th October starting at 10:30am from the Visitor Information Centre, Market Square. The tour takes 1.5 hours and is an easy stroll.
The weather forecast looks good so why not come and join me.
Discover the stories that shaped St Peter Port on this fascinating guided walk through the town’s historic streets. From the Market Buildings and the unique Commercial Arcade to medieval merchant houses and hidden harbour corners, you’ll uncover tales of ambitious entrepreneurs, pioneering shopkeepers, colourful characters and remarkable buildings that have stood witness to centuries of island life. Along the way, learn how trade, innovation and maritime connections transformed Guernsey’s capital into the thriving town we know today.
Meet the personalities behind the plaques and memorials as we explore the lives of some of Guernsey’s most influential figures, including Daniel de Lisle Brock, Sir Isaac Brock, Sir Donald Banks, Sir Edgar MacCulloch and Thomas de la Rue. Hear stories of wartime courage, global achievements, local legends and poignant moments of remembrance, from the Royal Guernsey Light Infantry to the Titanic Memorial on the harbour wall. This walking tour brings St Peter Port’s rich heritage to life through the places, plaques and personalities that continue to define the island’s story.
Many of these people had a major impact on the wider world and our islands over the centuries.
No need to book and the cost is £10, under 12s half price.
